About
MIN201 – Baptist Deacon Training is an independent study program designed to equip men for the vital role of deacon in the local New Testament church. Drawing from The Ministry of a Baptist Deacon by Dr. Paul Chappell, this course provides a comprehensive exploration of the biblical qualifications, spiritual responsibilities, and servant-hearted leadership required of a deacon. Participants will deepen their understanding of personal character, family life, doctrinal soundness, and the practical ways deacons support pastors and care for the church body. The program is divided into two main sections: Foundations of a Biblical Deacon, which covers scriptural and doctrinal essentials, and Practical Helps and Local Application, which offers real-life examples, mentorship, and guidance tailored to FaithWay Bible Baptist Church. Through workbook assignments, essays, and a final exam, students will be challenged to grow in humility, wisdom, and faithfulness, developing a servant-leader mindset rooted in Scripture. Assignments are submitted sequentially, with feedback provided to encourage spiritual growth and gospel effectiveness. Required resources include the course textbook and a King James Version Bible. This self-paced program is ideal for those seeking to serve their church with excellence and biblical conviction.
